About the course

In combat situations, you will encounter injuries that you wouldn’t in your normal life. When bullets are flying past you, shells are landing all around, and everything is in chaos, you have to be able to keep a cool head. Our experienced instructors, who have all seen combat themselves, will teach you all the tricks of the trade. After this training, you will know exactly what to do to save a fellow soldier or civilian. This is an NAEMT-accredited program with a certificate that is valid for 4 years

Course build up: what you’ll learn

Module 1 – Equipment in an Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK)

  • Using the video in the digital handbook, you will check the items that you should have in order to effectively stabilize war casualties.
  • Your instructor will share their practical experience, like the best ways to pack and use the equipment.
  • You will work with your own IFAK to prepare it for use.

Module 2 – Massive Hemorrhage Control

  • You will learn the basic skills for identifying a fatal hemorrhage.
  • You will be able to correctly take the following actions:
    • Placing a tourniquet
    • Directly applying pressure using wound packing

Module 3 – Airway Management

  • You will be able to recognize and treat an airway obstruction.
  • You will be able to correctly take the following actions:
    • Cleaning the mouth
    • Head tilt/chin lift
    • Jaw thrust

Module 4 – Respiration assessment

  • You will be able to recognize and treat respiratory problems caused by a chest injury.
  • You will learn the basics about respiration injuries and how these should be treated.
  • You will be able to correctly take the following actions: Performing a respiration and chest examination and placing a chest seal.

Module 5 – Circulation

  • You will be able to recognize and treat severe external hemorrhages.
  • You will learn the basics about circulation and how to treat severe hemorrhages.
  • You will be able to correctly take the following actions: applying pressure dressing and applying occlusive dressing.

Module 6 – Simulations

  • You will be able to perform actions in a practical scenario from the MARC part of the MARCH protocol.
  • You will apply wound packing and place a tourniquet in different scenarios.

Module 7 – Hypothermia

  • You will be able to combat hypothermia.
  • You will learn the basics about hypothermia and how to prevent it.
  • You will be able to correctly take the following action: correctly covering someone with an aluminum blanket.
  • You will learn alternative ways to combat hypothermia.

Module 8 – Head injuries

  • You will be able to treat basic eye injuries and examine someone for brain injuries.
  • You will learn the basics about eye injuries as well as how to treat them.
  • You will learn the basics about brain injuries and be able to examine a casualty for brain injuries.
  • You will be able to correctly take the following actions: applying an eyepatch and assessing a casualty’s consciousness and awareness.

 

Module 9 – Transfer

  • You will be able to clearly provide support services with the relevant information.
  • You will be able to use the MISTAT protocol to provide information.

Module 10 – Simulations

  • You will be able to operate independently as a first responder and execute the MARCH protocol in order to treat a casualty.
  • You will be able to carefully and independently go through the MARCH protocol.
  • You will be able to apply wound packing to the chest.
  • You will be able to apply a chest seal.
  • You will be able to use the MISTAT protocol when making a report to support services.

INSTRUCTOR: DEREK

Derek is a decorated military veteran with more than 16 years of experience. He has completed multiple tours to countries such as Iraq, Afghanistan, and other conflict zones as a Special Forces Medic. Because of his extensive knowledge and experience in the Tactical Medical field, he knows how important it is to continuously train these skills properly. It saves lives!

What the training program entails:

Upon completion, you will receive a CLS certificate accredited by NAEMT. The certificate is valid for 4 years

Each step in the MARCH protocol and how to perform them
The specific equipment in your individual first aid kit (IFAK)
How to use the equipment in your IFAK safely and responsibly
You will be tested in challenging simulations, which will teach you the skills needed to properly execute the MARCH protocol
